Required for ALL volunteers
All people interested in becoming a volunteer with us, must attend a volunteer orientation. They are typically held on Saturday's and we do require you to sign up in advance. Orientations typically last an hour and take place here at the sanctuary. To sign up for available dates please click here. If you are under 16 you must be accompanied by an adult, if you are under 18 you must bring a parental consent form.
Please understand that if you arrive past the starting time we will be unable to accept you. All information is important for your safety as well as the safety of the animals.
We welcome your "well-behaved" children. There is no minimum age for volunteers at Pets Alive Westchester, we ask only that all volunteers be willing and able to follow directions from staff and senior volunteers. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and must stay with you the entire day. We also welcome your school or organization projects.
Volunteers are invited to inquire to work in the various animal care areas. Skilled electricians, plumbers and carpenters are also needed. In addition, there is a need for volunteers willing to do manual labor in a variety of construction and maintenance projects. We welcome volunteers with experience in bathing and grooming, training, T-Touch, adoption counseling, data entry, filing, and office work.
Cat Caregivers provide care and socialization for sanctuary cats. Responsibilities include grooming and interacting with the cats and help with cleaning and poop scooping.
Dog Caregivers provide socialization for sanctuary dogs. Responsibilities include walking, grooming and interacting with the dogs.
Rabbit Caregivers provide general care and socialization for sanctuary rabbits. Responsibilities include cleaning, feeding, and interacting and socializing with the rabbits.
Handypersons utilize their skills in maintenance, construction, plumbing, landscaping, etc. to care for the sanctuary buildings and provide a safe and aesthetically-pleasing environment for the animals, staff, and visitors.
Pets Alive Sanctuary welcomes and appreciates the volunteer services of professionals such as veterinarians, veterinary technicians, groomers, event planners, etc.
